Clerical Assistant  Part-Time  15-20 Hrs Wkly

The Clerical Assistant provides clerical, secretarial and general office support to direct service staff and administrators under the supervision of the assigned Supervisor and/or Program Director.

Duties and Responsibililties include, but are not limited to:

  • Routine clerical duties - typing, filing and various data entry assignments
  • Reception duties including answering telephones and recording and disseminating messages
  • Monitor and ensure the timely completion of all recordkeeping activities
  • Oversee all external correspondence for accuracy, appropriateness and responsiveness
  • Process and facilitate the flow of necessary paperwork, order office supplies and maintain office equipment
  • Oversee maintenance of program vehicles
  • Perform all off site errands using own vehicle as required

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or its equivalent as well as training in basic office skills, such as typing, filing and other office tasks.

 Psychiatrist - Part Time

This position provides direct patient care integrated into the total treatment plan for each patient which is developed through a team-oriented approach.  This is a 14 hr/wkly position with duties and responsiblities that include, but are not limited to supervision and medication to appropriate clients, psycphiatric examination  for the purpose of diagnostic evaluation and determination of treatment needs and prognostic factors with the ability to establish and maintain appropriate and timely clinical case records. ( treatment plans, progress notes and treatment plan reviews, documenting appropriate therapeutic intervention with each client. 

Requirements:  Medical Doctor; Board eligible/certified in  Psychiatry, Clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of the entire spectrum of mental disorders, including treatment and management of seriously and persistently ill patients.  Familiarity with the current DSM criteria and patients with co-occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

Direct Care Counselors

Programs currently serve 175 individuals and families with mental illness, substance abuse and/or homelessness. We employ over 70 staff in full-time, part-time, overnight and relief positions. Our programs are located in Nassau County and Suffolk County. Counselors work in partnership with the residents by offering counseling and support in recovery issues, monitoring medications and counseling residents on medication related issues. In addition, staff coordinate treatment through contacts with other service providers, assist in emergency situations, plan and participate in recreational activities, supervise meal preparations and cleanup and facilitate positive interactions between residents. The goal of all of the counselors' work is to ensure that everyone at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services lives up to their fullest potential. While the work itself is both highly diverse and challenging, the satisfaction that comes from seeing a resident successfully complete the program is a gift for life to the employee. Part-Time (Fee For Service) Social Worker 


10-hour, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) for outpatient mental health program. Hours include evenings and Saturdays. Applicant should have experience with SPMI/MICA clients. The Central Nassau Residential Program, celebrating its 20th year of dedicated service to our surrounding community, is seeking applicants to join our skilled, supportive and diverse team of friendly compassionate professionals that truly care about helping people. The duities of this position includes:

Requirements for consideration are a Bachelors Degree, at least 1 year of experience in the human services field and a clean driving record. Prospective applicants must be available to work on a per diem/on call basis and have their own transportation.

On site training will be provided in compliance with Central Nassau and The Office of Mental Health guidelines. Central Nassau offers a competitive per diem salary, and opportunity for advancement.
