CENTRAL NASSAU PRESENTS...
Lend a helping hand to those confronted with difficult challenges:
Educate the Community about mental health and substance abuse issues;
Get people involved in advocating on behalf of the 1 in 5 families on Long Island struggling with these issues.
Read the article from the Farmingdale Observer The Pretty New Thrift Shop (located at 238 Main Street, Farmingdale) has been closed on some recent business days due to a shortage of volunteers. The Thrift Shop is managed and staffed solely by dedicated volunteers for Central Nassau. The funds generated by the Thrift Shop helps us provide essential mental health and substance abuse services throughout Nassau and Suffolk County. ”Without enough volunteers, the Pretty New Thrift Shop cannot open for business and this lessens our ability to provide services to an already underserved community”, said Barbara Bartell, Chief Executive Officer of Central Nassau Guidance. “We are turning to the community to ask for help. Please realize that through volunteering, you have an opportunity to help rebuild lives and fulfill your own”, added Bartell. To volunteer a few hours of your time at the Pretty New Thrift Shop, please call: (516) 822-6111. ext. 434.
